Tetra Pak, in partnership with Spanish beverage producer García Carrión, has introduced the first commercial use of its paper-based barrier technology for juice, using the Tetra Brik Aseptic 200 ml Slim Leaf carton to replace the traditional aluminium foil layer with a fibre-led solution that still protects against oxygen, light and moisture. The new carton contains up to about 80% paper and, when combined with plant‑based polymers, reaches roughly 92% renewable content, cutting the pack’s carbon footprint by over 40% versus conventional aluminium‑foil aseptic structures while remaining compatible with existing beverage carton recycling streams. The launch advances Tetra Pak’s roadmap toward fully renewable, low‑carbon, circular packaging and forms part of García Carrión’s 360° sustainability strategy in the ambient juice category.
