ABB achieved A scores for climate and water in CDP's 2025 rankings, earning spots on the annual A List for climate change—for the third consecutive year—and water stewardship for the first time. The company joins the top 1 percent of 22,100 scored organizations with double A ratings.
Anke Hampel, ABB Group Head of Sustainability, stated: "Inclusion in CDP's A List for both climate and water is an important recognition of our leadership in performance and corporate transparency. Achieving an A rating for Water for the first time is testament to our strengthened focus on water-related risks exposure, water stewardship, governance, as well as our enhanced supplier engagement on the topic of water risk."
ABB improved its water security score from B in 2023, A- in 2024, to A in 2025 amid pressures from climate change, population growth, and industrial demand. The company conducts annual water risk assessments across 320 global sites, prioritizing 91 in water-stressed regions, with self-assessments required by end-2026 and interventions planned. ABB aligns sites with Alliance for Water Stewardship standards.
ABB India's Nelamangala factory earned AWS Standard Gold certification in December 2025—the first ABB site—for recycling 85 percent treated water, replenishing groundwater 1.25 times faster than consumption, and raising local levels over 30 meters via rainwater harvesting in Bengaluru's stressed watershed.
