Helsinki, Finland – February 26, 2026 – Ahlstrom today announced significant actions as part of its strategic roadmap to optimize its manufacturing footprint and strengthen long-term competitiveness, including planned shutdowns at sites in the United States and the United Kingdom.

Strategic Actions in Wisconsin, United States

Ahlstrom is streamlining its manufacturing strategy in Wisconsin by right-sizing operations at its Mosinee site.

The plan includes:

  • Shutting down the pulp mill during 2026

  • Closing two older paper machines

  • Upgrading the two remaining paper machines with advanced technologies and automation

These measures will enhance operational efficiency, improve cost competitiveness, and better align production capacity with evolving customer demand. Investments in automation and modernized equipment are expected to strengthen quality, safety, and productivity while supporting long-term growth in specialty materials.

Consultation Process Initiated in Radcliffe, United Kingdom

In addition, Ahlstrom has initiated a formal consultation process regarding the potential shutdown of its Radcliffe site in the United Kingdom, effective today.

The consultation will be conducted in accordance with local regulations and in dialogue with employee representatives. A final decision will be taken following the outcome of the consultation process.
