Sun Paper has successfully started up new process islands with state-of-the-art technology and solutions from ANDRITZ at its kraft pulp mill in Nanning, Guangxi, China.
The scope of supply included the main process equipment for the chemical recovery island, supporting Sun Paper’s circular economy approach. In addition, ANDRITZ supplied equipment for wood processing and pulp drying.
Mr. Ying Guangdong, Vice General Manager and Chief Engineer at Shandong Sun Paper commented: "In the Nanning project, we had a very tight delivery schedule, and ANDRITZ made well-founded commitments. Of course, we also have full confidence in ANDRITZ's chemical recovery technology and equipment. We have had a long history of cooperation and experience, working seamlessly together. The project's successful start-up and rapid achievement of production verified our choice of ANDRITZ technology."
This project highlights the excellent, long-standing partnership between the two companies. Over the past years, ANDRITZ has executed several projects at Sun Paper’s pulp and paper mills. At the end of 2023, a high kappa fiberline and a lime kiln plant – both supplied by ANDRITZ – started up at the Nanning pulp mill.
The recently commissioned systems include the following equipment on an EPS (engineering, procurement, supervision) basis:
Lamella evaporation plant for high process availability, condensate quality, steam economy, and firing dry solids content
ARC chloride removal system for recovering valuable process chemicals
Recovery boiler designed for maximized electricity production and low flue gas emissions
Integrated white liquor plant including recausticizing system and lime kiln with a gasification plant for energy-efficient and fossil-free operation
360° Stacker Reclaimer for efficient storing and reclaiming to ensure a homogenous and continuous chip supply
Wet-lap system consisting of a Twin Wire Press, a cutter-layboy and a baling line ensuring high operational availability and high final dryness
