Antalis has expanded its presence in Europe through the acquisition of Speidel Verpackungen, a German manufacturer of custom-made packaging solutions. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

Founded in 1981, Speidel Verpackungen employs 60 people and generated nearly €17 million ($19.5 million) in revenue last year. The company develops customised packaging products for customers across sectors including medical technology, mechanical engineering, metalworking and automotive.

Speidel Verpackungen's manufacturing capabilities focus on corrugated and heavy-duty corrugated board, as well as wood and foam materials. Antalis said the customised packaging segment is a key growth driver for the business.

Antalis Chief Executive Officer Hervé Poncin said the acquisition strengthens the company's packaging operations and enhances its ability to serve customers with bespoke packaging solutions.

“We are delighted to welcome the team of Speidel Verpackungen to Antalis. Its extensive expertise in bespoke packaging perfectly complements our packaging organisation and will strengthen our customer offering,” Poncin said.

Speidel Verpackungen Managing Director Rainer Speidel said joining Antalis provides the company with access to additional resources and a broader network to support future growth, investment in new technologies and the expansion of its sustainable packaging solutions.

“Joining Antalis is a fantastic opportunity for our company. As part of a leading global group in the packaging industry, we will have the resources and network to accelerate our growth, invest in new technologies, and bring our innovative, sustainable packaging solutions to a wider audience,” Speidel said.

The acquisition follows Antalis' purchase of The Packaging Company (Midlands) in the United Kingdom last year. At the time, Antalis said the transaction would diversify its product portfolio and strengthen its ability to meet increasing demand for sustainable packaging solutions.
