Asia Pulp & Paper Co. (APP) and CVC Capital Partners Plc are evaluating separate bids for Essity AB’s Consumer Tissue business, which could be valued at approximately €3 billion, according to a Bloomberg News report published on October 16.

The business produces toilet paper, tissues and napkins under brands including Cushelle, Tempo and Tork. Royal Golden Eagle Pte. (RGE) is also among the potential bidders, according to people familiar with the matter cited by Bloomberg.

APP has lined up advisers for a potential offer, while both APP and CVC are assessing whether to submit separate bids. The discussions remain ongoing, and Essity has not committed to selling the business.

The reported sale process could begin in October, following preparations outlined in earlier reports. Essity is continuing its strategic review of the Consumer Tissue division and is evaluating its options, the company said. It has not ruled out retaining the business.

The potential divestment follows a strategic review announced by Essity in May 2026 to assess alternative ownership structures for the division. The review could lead to a sale or another form of separation, depending on the outcome of the process.

Consumer Tissue is part of Essity’s broader portfolio of hygiene and health products. A transaction would transfer ownership of a portfolio of established tissue brands, although no final bids or sale agreement have been announced.

The potential €3 billion valuation and the identities of interested parties remain based on sources cited by Bloomberg. The sale process is not guaranteed to proceed, and Essity may decide against a divestment.
