Arkhangelsk Pulp and Paper Mill (APPM) has announced an updated version of its corporate sustainable development policy, aligning the revision with the Day of Environmental Knowledge and the start of Russia’s nationwide “Days of Protection from Environmental Hazards” campaign.
The company said the revised policy expands its commitments to reflect both global sustainability goals and Russia’s national priorities. In addition to environmental considerations, the updated framework incorporates areas such as public health, demography, and overall human well-being.
Operating in Russia’s Arctic zone, APPM emphasized its focus on improving quality of life in challenging climatic conditions. The company stated that, alongside production objectives, it continues to support initiatives promoting healthy lifestyles, as well as cultural and sports activities for employees and local communities.
The updated policy outlines several key directions. These include adherence to the National Forest Certification System (NSLS), under which the company holds two certificates confirming responsible forest management practices and the traceability of wood raw materials used in production.
The policy also highlights increased attention to information security, described by the company as a critical component of long-term business sustainability and protection of employee and regional interests.
In addition, APPM is reinforcing a culture of continuous improvement aimed at enhancing operational efficiency, with participation expected across all levels of the workforce. The company also noted its support for initiatives that promote Russian spiritual, moral, cultural, and historical values.
According to the company, the updated sustainability policy is now in effect across all divisions and is intended to strengthen awareness and knowledge of sustainable development among employees and stakeholders.
