According to China News Service, on January 20, berths No. 8 and No. 9 of the Shitougang Operation Area in the Tieshan Port West Port Area of Beihai Port, Guangxi, successfully passed the provincial-level supervision for opening up to the outside world, injecting strong momentum into the development of the region's open economy.

As an important component of the Beibu Gulf Port in Guangxi, the cargo handling services of the Tieshan Port West Port Area of Beihai Port precisely meet the industrial development needs of the Tieshan Port Industrial Zone and southeastern Guangxi. Berths 8 and 9, as Beihai Port's first dedicated 100,000-ton-class berth for wood chips, undertake the core functions of facilitating the transfer of new industries from the port area, improving the port's logistics system, optimizing the layout of coastal industries, and expanding foreign trade channels; designed for an annual cargo capacity of 9.8 million tons, with an annual berth throughput capacity of 10.92 million tons; equipped with grab unloaders, gantry cranes, tractors, and shore power clean energy facilities. Officially opened for operation on March 24, 2025, it has handled 540,000 tons of cargo to date.

Zhou Yunzhan, deputy general manager of Nine Dragons Paper (Beihai) Co., Ltd., introduced that berths No. 8 and No. 9 are supporting projects of Nine Dragons Paper. After the wood chips are unloaded from the ship to the tractor, they can be directly transported to the factory area several kilometers away, realizing seamless connection from the dock to the factory. It is estimated that this can save 50%.

According to reports, since the efficient launch of parking lots No. 8 and No. 9, the Beihai Municipal Bureau of Commerce, in conjunction with customs, border inspection, maritime and other inspection units, has promoted the acceptance process. In response to the core needs of professional supervision and efficient turnover of wood chip transportation, it has promoted the localization of the "remote supervision and seamless customs clearance" model. At the same time, it has optimized the materials in the storage yard, added intelligent monitoring equipment, and simplified customs clearance, thus clearing the bottlenecks in cargo turnover and breaking through the traditional supervision bottlenecks.

Wu Wei, a fourth-level researcher at the Beihai Municipal Bureau of Commerce, stated that the Beihai port authorities will continue to innovate intelligent supervision models, comprehensively improve port services, provide enterprises with more efficient and convenient port transportation guarantees, and promote the high-quality development of Beihai's port-related industries. In the future, Beihai Port will continue to improve its port opening layout and accelerate its construction as a crucial hub connecting the domestic dual circulation development pattern.
