Billerud is reinforcing its premium containerboard position with a new headbox installation on the paper machine at its Gruvön mill in Sweden, designed to lift Billerud Flute’s strength, quality consistency and overall performance for demanding supply chains. The upgrade will optimise fibre orientation and sheet uniformity, enabling higher strength properties that support better box performance in tough logistics and climate conditions while maintaining lightweight, resource‑efficient designs. Acting VP Paperboard Johan Wallin said the project secures Billerud Flute’s reputation as a high‑performing fresh‑fiber fluting and will deliver measurable sustainability and cost benefits for converters and brand owners. The rebuild is scheduled for April 2026, with the enhanced Billerud Flute range planned for launch in the second half of 2026 as part of the company’s strategy to provide renewable packaging materials that lower total cost of ownership and environmental impact.
