Seshasayee Paper & Boards Limited (SPB), Tamil Nadu, has successfully commissioned and brought into operation a new Black Liquor Pressure Filter, which is now running smoothly under plant conditions following site trials and performance verification.
According to plant sources, the filtration system has demonstrated stable and consistent performance since commissioning.
Key Operating Parameters
Throughput Capacity: 60–70 m³/hr
Filtration Element: 200-micron Electrical Beam Drilled (EBD) screen
Differential Pressure (DP): Stable at 0.1–0.2 bar
Inlet Total Suspended Solids (TSS): 75 PPM
Outlet TSS: Below 30 PPM
Operational Stability: No choking issues reported
The system performance was verified during site trials prior to handover.
Designed for Agro and Wood-Based Mills
The pressure filter has been engineered to cater to both agro-based and wood-based pulp and paper mills. The use of Electrical Beam Drilled (EBD) screen technology enables precision filtration while maintaining low pressure drop and operational stability.
Industry observers note that stable differential pressure combined with effective solids reduction is critical for maintaining downstream process efficiency in black liquor handling systems.
With the successful commissioning at SPB, the installation demonstrates operational reliability under real plant conditions
