Bollegraaf Upgrades Paper Sorting Line at Ecotri Recycling Facility in France

Bollegraaf has upgraded the existing paper sorting line at the recycling facility of Ecotri Atelier Fouesnantais as part of Citeo’s “Fibre Quality and Performance” call for projects.

The upgrade was designed to improve material purity and recovery, reduce manual sorting requirements and lower operating costs. Bollegraaf integrated two Opti-Sort units into the existing installation, enabling paper to be positively sorted at high speed and with greater precision.

The upgrade also allowed Ecotri to remove four manual sorting positions from the sorting tables, reducing reliance on manual intervention.

Bollegraaf said lightweight materials, including individual sheets of paper, can be difficult to control during the ejection process. Its Opti-Sort 4.0 system is designed to address this challenge and can handle material at conveyor speeds of up to 6.5 metres per second.

According to Bollegraaf, the upgraded paper sorting line has resulted in higher paper purity and recovery, alongside more efficient sorting and reduced dependence on manual sorting.

The project demonstrates how upgrades to existing sorting infrastructure can improve process efficiency without replacing the entire installation, Bollegraaf said.
