Borregaard received the Household & Commercial Products Association's (HCPA) Carbon Footprint Innovation Award for LignoBrite, a bio-based product replacing synthetic polymers in cleaning agents. The award recognizes Borregaard's leadership in low-carbon innovation and sustainable solutions.
Researcher Ross Ellis at Borregaard stated: "The award from HCPA is a clear recognition of Borregaard's role as a driving force for low-carbon innovation and more sustainable solutions in the value chain for cleaning products.".
LignoBrite features documented sustainability benefits. Production proves carbon-negative via life cycle assessment (LCA). The product holds ISCC Plus Bio-Circular certification and USDA BioPreferred® designation as 100% bio-based. LignoBrite remains biodegradable, degrading along pathways similar to lignin in woody biomass, and utilizes upcycled raw materials.
Applications span multiple sectors. In machine dishwashing, LignoBrite reduces deposits and stains. Laundry detergents benefit from prevented redeposition and greying of textiles. Hard surface cleaning sees enhanced soil release and next-time cleanability. Industrial and institutional cleaning experiences reduced scaling and improved soil dispersion.
