Borregaard Receives Carbon Footprint Innovation Award for LignoBrite

Borregaard received the Household & Commercial Products Association's (HCPA) Carbon Footprint Innovation Award for LignoBrite, a bio-based product replacing synthetic polymers in cleaning agents. The award recognizes Borregaard's leadership in low-carbon innovation and sustainable solutions.​

Researcher Ross Ellis at Borregaard stated: "The award from HCPA is a clear recognition of Borregaard's role as a driving force for low-carbon innovation and more sustainable solutions in the value chain for cleaning products.".​

LignoBrite features documented sustainability benefits. Production proves carbon-negative via life cycle assessment (LCA). The product holds ISCC Plus Bio-Circular certification and USDA BioPreferred® designation as 100% bio-based. LignoBrite remains biodegradable, degrading along pathways similar to lignin in woody biomass, and utilizes upcycled raw materials.​

Applications span multiple sectors. In machine dishwashing, LignoBrite reduces deposits and stains. Laundry detergents benefit from prevented redeposition and greying of textiles.
