Buckeye Corrugated, Inc. (BCI) has begun installing key production equipment at its new facility in Reno, marking a major step in expanding its manufacturing and design capabilities to serve customers across the U.S. West Coast.

The phased installation includes a conveyor and unitizer system, die cutter infrastructure, a CAD table, a folder gluer, and a multi-color die cutter. Together, these systems are intended to establish a fully integrated corrugated packaging operation with enhanced production speed and efficiency.

BCI has already completed installation of its conveyor and unitizer system, designed to automate material handling, bundling, and stacking of finished products. The company said the system improves workflow efficiency, reduces manual handling, and supports consistent product quality.

Infrastructure is also in place for a die cutter, with installation of a three-color unit expected in mid- to late May. The system has been configured with two additional tracks to allow future expansion to five-color printing. The equipment is intended to support precision structural cutting and integrated printing for custom packaging applications.

A CAD table, scheduled for installation in mid-April, will enable rapid prototyping and structural design development. BCI said this capability will help customers accelerate packaging development while optimizing material use and performance.

The installation of a J&L folder gluer, planned for May 1, is expected to enhance high-speed production of complex corrugated designs, including specialty boxes and displays.

According to Scott Fuselier, Vice President of Enterprise Sales at BCI, the Reno facility is designed to improve production speed, prototyping capabilities, and integrated printing for customers in the region.

The company said the Reno expansion will function as a regional manufacturing hub, allowing customers to reduce lead times, lower freight costs, and simplify supply chains while improving packaging performance.

BCI previously announced that a grand opening and innovation showcase for the facility will take place on June 12 at its Reno location.
