Caraustar Mill Group Inc. plans to permanently close a paperboard manufacturing facility in Cobb County, Georgia, affecting 95 employees.

The company filed a WARN notice with the Georgia Department of Labor on September 14, according to the filing. The closure involves Caraustar’s facility at 3500 Joe Jerkins Blvd. in Austell, with affected employees scheduled to be separated on November 16, 2026.

The closure is the latest reduction involving a major employer in the Austell area. The Atlanta Business Chronicle reported September 15 that the packaging materials manufacturer is closing the paperboard plant and cutting nearly 100 jobs.

Caraustar Mill Group is associated with the manufacture of packaging materials. The WARN filing identifies the event as a facility closure and lists 95 affected workers.

The company has previously announced a closure involving another Austell facility. A January 2025 WARN notice stated that Caraustar would permanently cease ongoing operations at its Austell 1 facility at 3300 Joe Jerkins Boulevard, with employees separated beginning March 29, 2025, and the final wind-down expected by the end of that year.
