China Paper Industry Sees Second Wave of Price Increases Ahead of National Day Holiday

As September draws to a close, China’s paper industry is entering a second wave of price increases following the National Day holiday. Several major paper producers and regional manufacturers have announced adjustments of around RMB 50 per tonne, citing changes in market conditions and production costs.

Among the latest companies to announce increases are Nine Dragons Paper, with adjustments across several major production bases, as well as Shanxi Qiangwei Paper, Henan Hengli Environmental Protection Technology, and Gansu Hengda Environmental Protection Technology.

The latest round of notices covers kraft paper, recycled paper, corrugated paper, tube paper and other paper products.

Nine Dragons Paper Announces Price Increases Across Four Bases

Nine Dragons Paper has announced a RMB 50 per tonne increase at its Dongguan, Tianjin, Shenyang and Beihai production bases, with the adjustments taking effect from October 13, 2026.

At the Dongguan base, prices for Nine Dragons kraft paper, Nine Dragons Special Grade kraft paper, Hailong kraft paper and Hailong Premium V kraft paper will increase by RMB/HKD 50 per tonne, equivalent to approximately US$7 per tonne.

At the Tianjin base, the price of Nine Dragons kraft paper will rise by RMB 50 per tonne from October 13.

The Shenyang base will also increase the price of Nine Dragons kraft paper by RMB 50 per tonne, effective October 13.

Meanwhile, the Beihai base will raise the price of Premium V-grade kraft paper by RMB/HKD 50 per tonne, also effective October 13.

Regional Paper Producers Follow With Similar Increases

The price increases are not limited to Nine Dragons Paper. Several regional producers have issued their own adjustment notices.

Shanxi Qiangwei Paper Industry Co., Ltd. announced that, from 8:00 a.m. on October 7, prices for all grades of recycled paper, corrugated paper and tube paper will increase by RMB 50 per tonne. The adjustment will also apply to existing orders that have been received but have not yet been completed.

In Henan, Hengli Environmental Protection Technology will raise the price of raw paper by RMB 50 per tonne from October 8, based on current selling prices.

Gansu Hengda Environmental Protection Technology Co., Ltd. will implement a RMB 50 per tonne increase across all products from October 1. The company stated that the increase will apply to existing orders and advance payments as well.

Second Wave of Increases Signals Broader Market Adjustment

The latest announcements represent a renewed round of price increases following the National Day holiday and come as several paper producers move to strengthen selling prices across different regions and product categories.

With major producers such as Nine Dragons Paper implementing increases at multiple production bases, and smaller regional manufacturers announcing similar adjustments, the latest moves indicate that the upward price trend is spreading across China's paper market.

Market participants will be watching whether other producers follow with additional price adjustments in the coming days, particularly as the industry enters the final quarter of 2026.
