China’s Paper Industry Announces New Round of Price Increases Ahead of October

China’s paper industry is entering a new round of price adjustments ahead of October, with several major producers announcing increases across white cardboard, coated cardboard, food-grade cardboard, corrugated paper and kraft paper products.

The latest announcements come as the market approaches the National Day holiday and the fourth quarter. Leading producers including Nine Dragons Paper, APP China, Zhangzhou Liansheng Pulp & Paper, Wanguo Paper Industry, Bohui Paper and Asia Pulp & Paper’s Jiangsu base have announced increases of up to RMB 200 per ton for selected white cardboard products.

Separately, Nine Dragons Paper has announced RMB 50-per-ton increases for selected corrugated and kraft paper products across six production bases, with the adjustments taking effect between October 6 and October 10.

White cardboard producers announce RMB 200-per-ton increases

A series of price adjustment notices issued in recent days point to a broad-based increase across China's white cardboard market.

Nine Dragons Paper announced that, effective October 1, prices for all white cardboard products, including coated cardboard and food-grade cardboard, will increase by RMB 200 per ton based on existing prices.

APP China will raise prices by RMB 200 per ton, including tax, based on September prices, with the increase taking effect October 1.

Zhangzhou Liansheng Pulp & Paper announced a RMB 200-per-ton increase for its Blue Leaf coated white cardboard products, effective October 1.

Wanguo Paper Industry will increase prices for its white cardboard, coated cardboard and food-grade cardboard products by RMB 200 per ton from September 26.

Bohui Paper will implement a RMB 200-per-ton increase, including tax, beginning October 1.

In addition, Asia Pulp & Paper’s Jiangsu base announced that prices for all brands of social-grade and food-grade cardboard will rise by RMB 200 per ton, including tax, from October 1.

The cluster of announcements represents a significant round of price adjustments across China's white cardboard segment, with most of the increases concentrated around the beginning of October.

Nine Dragons announces further increases for packaging paper

The price adjustments extend beyond white cardboard.

Nine Dragons Paper has announced RMB 50-per-ton increases for selected corrugated and kraft paper products at six production bases.

At the Dongguan base, prices for corrugated paper weighing 100 grams or more will increase by RMB/HKD 50 per ton, effective October 8.

At the Taicang base, selected premium grades will increase by RMB 50 per ton from October 6.

The Tianjin and Hebei bases will implement RMB 50-per-ton increases for specified grades beginning October 6.

At the Shenyang base, prices for selected premium and standard grades will rise by RMB 50 per ton from October 10.

The Leshan base will also increase corrugated paper prices by RMB 50 per ton, effective October 10.
