Major Chinese paper producers including Nine Dragons Paper and Shanying International have announced new price increases for containerboard and corrugated paper products, alongside planned maintenance shutdowns at several production bases, as market conditions continue to strengthen.

Nine Dragons Paper said its Taicang base will raise prices for recycled kraft paper by RMB 50 per tonne from 29 May, while recycled kraft linerboard and corrugated paper prices will increase by RMB 80 per tonne. The company also announced an additional RMB 50 per tonne increase for premium kraftliner grades from 1 June.

At the company’s Quanzhou base, corrugated paper prices for grades weighing 100 grams or less will rise by RMB 70 per tonne from 29 May, while heavier grades will increase by RMB 50 per tonne. Additional price adjustments for recycled kraftliner and Longniuka products are scheduled between 1 June and 3 June.

Shanying Paper Industry also issued price adjustment notices covering multiple manufacturing bases. The company said prices for Jinshan series products, Hongshan grades, T-paper and related paperboard products at its Zhejiang and Anhui facilities will increase by RMB 50 per tonne from 1 June. Similar increases will apply to T-paper and corrugated paper products at its Suzhou base.

Several other paper manufacturers have introduced comparable increases. Liansheng Paper (Longhai) Co., Ltd. announced a series of phased price rises across corrugated medium, kraftliner and whiteboard grades ranging from 24 May through 30 May, with most adjustments set at RMB 50 per tonne.

Henan Hengli Environmental Protection Technology Co., Ltd. implemented a RMB 70 per tonne increase effective 28 May, while Renfeng Special Materials, Jiangmen Mingxing Paper Industry and Ningbo Jiusen Paper also announced price increases of around RMB 50 per tonne for selected packaging paper products.

In parallel with the price adjustments, several leading producers have issued maintenance shutdown notices covering facilities operated by Nine Dragons, Shanying, Rongcheng Paper, Jingxing Paper Industry and Dongguan Jinzhou Paper Industry. The shutdowns are expected to take place between late May and early June.

The coordinated price increases and maintenance schedules have contributed to stronger market sentiment in China’s containerboard and packaging paper sector, with producers seeking to support pricing amid ongoing supply adjustments.
