Several paper manufacturers have announced planned shutdowns of paper machines during the Mid-Autumn Festival and National Day holiday period, with 20 machines scheduled to stop for between three and seven days from September 24 to October 7, according to customer notices issued by the companies.
Shanying International announced shutdown plans covering nine paper machines at its Anhui, Zhejiang and Suzhou bases. The planned stoppages include machines producing kraft paper, coated paperboard, corrugated medium, high-strength paperboard and other paper grades. The shutdown periods listed in the notice range from four to five days, with dates spanning September 25 to October 6.
Pinghu Rongcheng and Wuxi Rongcheng also announced maintenance shutdown arrangements for six paper machines. At Pinghu Rongcheng, PM6, PM7 and PM5 are scheduled to stop between September 24 and October 7 for periods of three to six days. At Wuxi Rongcheng, PM3B, PM2 and PM3A are scheduled to stop for four to six days between September 24 and October 7.
Nine Dragons Paper announced that five paper machines at its Tianjin base will undergo planned maintenance shutdowns from October 1 to October 7. The affected machines are PM25, PM26, PM27, PM31 and PM34, with each scheduled for a seven-day stoppage.
In its notice, Shanying cited continuing increases in raw material prices and the need to maintain market stability as reasons for its holiday shutdown arrangements. The Tianjin notice from Nine Dragons stated that the maintenance plan was intended to allow advance production arrangements and reduce the impact of the shutdown on customer production.
