Nine Dragons Paper, Shanying Paper and several other Chinese paper producers have announced a second round of price increases for selected paper products in August, with most adjustments set at RMB 50 per tonne.
Nine Dragons Paper announced increases across several production bases. At its Quanzhou mill, corrugated paper prices will rise by RMB 50 per tonne from August 17, followed by recycled kraft paper from August 22 and selected kraft paper grades from August 25.
At the Dongguan base, corrugated paper and kraft paper prices will increase by RMB/HKD 50 per tonne from August 17. Further increases of RMB/HKD 50 per tonne will apply to recycled kraft paper from August 22 and selected premium kraft paper grades from August 25. Prices for Jianglong-brand grey-back whiteboard will rise by RMB/HKD 50 per tonne from August 28, while Dilong- and Jiulong-brand grey-back whiteboard prices will increase by the same amount from September 7.
At Nine Dragons' Hubei base, selected kraft paper grades will increase by RMB 50 per tonne from August 20 and 24. The company's Beihai base will raise prices for selected premium kraft paper grades by RMB/HKD 50 per tonne from August 25.
Shanying Paper will also implement staged increases. At its Zhejiang, Anhui and Suzhou bases, corrugated paper prices will rise by RMB 50 per tonne from August 17, with further increases for other paper grades from August 22 and 25. At its Guangdong base, corresponding increases will take effect from August 18, 23 and 26.
Other producers have announced similar adjustments. Jiangmen Mingxing Paper Industry will increase recycled kraft paper prices by RMB 50 per tonne from August 22. Dongguan Jianhui Paper will raise prices for several kraft paper and grey-back whiteboard grades by RMB 50 per tonne between August 17 and August 28.
Henan Yadu Renewable Resources will increase prices for all grades and basis weights of corrugated paper and linerboard by RMB 50 per tonne from 8 a.m. on August 11.
The announcements come as terminal packaging orders gradually recover ahead of the second-half peak consumption season, providing some support for paper prices. However, market supply and demand remain relatively balanced at weak levels, and it remains uncertain whether the announced increases will be fully implemented.
