Chuetsu Pulp & Paper Co., Ltd. has resumed operations at its Takaoka plant following a fire that disrupted part of its kraft paper production line in late March.
The incident occurred on March 24, when a fire broke out in a section of a paper machine at the facility, damaging equipment and forcing a temporary shutdown of the affected line. The company confirmed that, after completing restoration work and obtaining approval from relevant authorities, production restarted on April 1.
The disruption impacted equipment used in kraft paper manufacturing, though the company did not disclose the extent of production losses during the downtime.
During the recovery period, Chuetsu Pulp & Paper implemented measures aimed at preventing similar incidents in the future. These included reinforcing factory safety protocols, conducting maintenance, and carrying out large-scale cleaning of surrounding and auxiliary equipment.
In a statement, the company apologized for the disruption caused to local residents, authorities, business partners, and shareholders, and acknowledged the support received during the restoration process.
The Takaoka facility is a key production site for kraft paper, and the resumption of operations marks a return to normal manufacturing activities following the incident.
Chuetsu Pulp & Paper stated it will continue efforts to strengthen safety management and maintain cooperation with the local community as it works to restore confidence after the event.
