Chuetsu Pulp & Paper announced plans to increase prices for a range of paper and paperboard products, citing rising raw material and energy costs linked to heightened tensions in the Middle East.
The company said the situation has significantly affected the supply of crude oil and naphtha-derived materials, resulting in procurement challenges and higher costs for fuels and raw materials essential to its manufacturing operations.
Despite efforts to reduce expenses and improve operational efficiency, Chuetsu Pulp & Paper said it has become extremely difficult to absorb the additional costs through internal measures alone.
To maintain a stable product supply system, the company will implement a price revision for printing and information papers, premium paperboard, specialty paperboard and converting base papers.
The increase will take effect for shipments from Aug. 1, 2026, with prices rising by at least 15% over current levels.
The company said the measure is necessary to address escalating production costs and ensure continued product availability.
