CMPC used its Investor Day 2025 to explain how it plans to navigate a challenging pulp and tissue market shaped by strong Chinese supply and overcapacity in Mexico and Brazil, while still pursuing an ambitious growth agenda. Chairman Bernardo Larraín Matte described a “complex present and promising future,” anchored in cost-efficiency measures, value-chain reorganization, financial resilience and deeper client relationships, with a strong internationalization focus in Brazil. At the centre of the plan is the Natureza project in Rio Grande do Sul, a US$4.6 billion eucalyptus pulp mill with 2.5 million tonnes of annual capacity, strategically located near forests, ports and CMPC’s Guaíba mill to unlock more than US$50 million a year in synergies. CMPC already controls 116,000 hectares—enough wood for the first five years—and expects Natureza to start up by late 2029, subject to permits and board approval.
