Printers invest in new equipment for specific reasons, such as expanding operations, entering new markets, or addressing challenges. Complete Design & Packaging (CDP), a manufacturer of custom corrugated packaging and point-of-purchase displays, achieved all three with its new Koenig & Bauer Allpro 145 folder gluer.
"Since operating the Allpro 145, we've increased our speed to market, attained much higher efficiency, eliminated bottlenecks, and allowed our sales team to add high-volume jobs," says Keith Furr, General Manager at CDP.
The high-speed Allpro 145 complements an existing Koenig & Bauer folder gluer. Running both machines together provides new capacity and attracts additional customers. "With both folder gluers in operation, we've shortened our lead times by running the same item on both machines if needed," says Bryan Allman, Plant Manager.
The machines offer versatility for complex carton styles, including infold and outfold trays, thanks to modular design. E and B flutes serve as common substrates. Internally, the Allpro 145 boosts efficiency, relieves bottlenecks, and speeds job turnaround. Workload now balances between the new Allpro 145 for auto bottom jobs and the older machine for straight line jobs, says Allman.
The new machine eliminates post-press bottlenecks by adding production hours and reducing overtime potential. CDP gained outfold tray capability—a specialized component for multi-panel or Z-fold boxes—via the machine's backfolding and folding sections.
"Our company continues to enjoy strong growth due to innovation and cutting-edge equipment. The new Koenig & Bauer Allpro 145 delivers outstanding return on investment based on current needs, customer requirements, and future growth plans," says Allman.
