Conclusion of Partnership Agreement between Tokushu Tokai Paper Group and Shimada City, Shizuoka Prefecture

Tokushu Tokai Paper Co., Ltd. (Head Office: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; Main Office: Shimada City, Shizuoka Prefecture; President: Takashi Kimura), together with its group company Shin Tokai Paper Co., Ltd. (Shimada City, Shizuoka Prefecture; President: Kazuhiro Otake), and Shimada City, Shizuoka Prefecture, have entered into a partnership agreement aimed at addressing regional challenges and accelerating co-creation initiatives across a wide range of fields.

Under this agreement, the parties will strengthen collaboration centered on environmental initiatives, leveraging Shin Tokai Paper’s infrastructure and the Tokushu Tokai Paper Group’s expertise in waste treatment and recycling. Through this public-private partnership, they will promote the development of a circular economy in Shimada City, ensure the sustainability of local infrastructure, and advance decarbonization efforts.

This initiative contributes to the realization of the “Regional Circular and Ecological Sphere” concept advocated by Japan’s Ministry of the Environment. In addition to environmental benefits such as waste management, the partnership is expected to create value in economic areas like local production for local consumption, as well as social aspects including education and community engagement.

Tokushu Tokai Paper Group has been transforming its business portfolio by positioning environmental businesses—such as resource recycling and effective utilization of company-owned forests—as new core operations, alongside its traditional paper manufacturing businesses (industrial materials, specialty materials, and consumer products). By integrating both paper and environmental businesses, the Group aims to contribute to a sustainable society.
