Cristini S.p.A. has been selected as one of the strategic suppliers for the start-up of the PM3 paper machine at Shotton Mill in the United Kingdom, a major recycled containerboard project being developed for Eren Paper.

According to the company, the new PM3 is designed to become one of the world's widest packaging paper machines, featuring a 10.1-metre forming fabric width, a design speed of 1,700 metres per minute, and an annual production capacity of approximately 650,000 tonnes of 100% recycled containerboard.

Once fully operational, the investment is expected to position Shotton Mill among the largest and most advanced recycled containerboard production sites in both the United Kingdom and Europe.

Cristini will supply its forming, press and dryer fabrics for the project. The company said its selection reflects its longstanding relationship with Modern Karton, another company within the Eren Group. Cristini stated that the performance and reliability of its fabrics at Modern Karton contributed to the confidence placed in the company for the Shotton Mill project.

Founded 110 years ago, Cristini said innovation has remained central to its business. Among its historical developments, the company highlighted the introduction of the world's first seamed press fabric in 1956, a technology that improved felt installation safety and later became widely adopted across the paper industry.

Cristini described its selection for the PM3 project as recognition of its expertise, technological capabilities and customer-focused approach. The company also acknowledged the Eren family, Modern Karton and its project partners for their support and said it looks forward to contributing to the successful start-up of the new paper machine.
