Daio Paper Reports Wastewater Piping Damage at Mishima Mill, Partial Shutdown Underway

Daio Paper Corporation said a section of wastewater piping at its Mishima Mill in Shikokuchuo was damaged on the evening of April 28, leading to the temporary shutdown of some production facilities.

The incident occurred at approximately 6:00 PM in part of the buried wastewater piping within the treatment line used in the pulp and paper manufacturing process. The company reported no injuries and stated that environmental impact remains under investigation, with no significant effects confirmed so far.

According to the company, the damage was limited to a portion of the underground wastewater piping. As a precaution, several production units were halted following the incident. Operations are now being restored تدريجually as repair work progresses.

Daio Paper said it is currently assessing the potential impact on its business performance. The company added that it will disclose further information if a material effect is identified.

Restoration efforts are ongoing, with the company aiming to resume full operations as quickly as possible. In parallel, Daio Paper plans to investigate the root cause of the damage and implement preventive measures, including enhanced inspection protocols and a review of monitoring systems.

The company also noted that it will coordinate with business partners individually if any concerns arise regarding product supply.
