Delfort invested over €50 million to transform its Tervakoski site in Finland into one of Europe's most advanced paper mills, eliminating fossil fuels entirely. The centerpiece features the world's largest steam-generating heat pump paired with an electrode boiler, utilizing industrial waste heat to produce steam for paper manufacturing. This setup reduces energy consumption, cuts emissions, and achieves zero direct fossil emissions across specialty paper production. Partial funding came from Finland's Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment plus the European NextGenerationEU program. The upgrade bolsters Delfort's role as a sustainable supplier of specialty and functional papers for food packaging, energy transmission/storage, printing, pharmaceuticals, and FMCG sectors. Delfort targets net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050. The mill now exemplifies cutting-edge, eco-efficient paper production standards.
