Domtar has outlined progress across environmental, social and governance priorities in its first-quarter 2026 sustainability strategy update, highlighting developments in safety policy, emissions planning and resource management.
The update tracks actions under the company’s 2030 Sustainability Strategy, launched in the second quarter of 2025, and structured around three pillars: Environmental Stewardship, Our People and Communities, and Responsible Business.
Within Environmental Stewardship, Domtar reported maintaining 100% third-party certification across its manufacturing facilities and forest operations. The company also advanced work on a greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions baseline to support a planned science-based reduction target in 2026, and established a 2025 baseline for assessing water risk across all manufacturing sites.
Under its people-focused initiatives, Domtar introduced a company-wide Health & Safety Policy aimed at strengthening risk management through leadership and accountability. The company also progressed community engagement efforts by tracking volunteer hours and continued collaboration with external sustainability advisors.
In Responsible Business, Domtar confirmed full employee participation in its 2025 Code of Business Conduct and Ethics training and indicated further training on its Global Sustainability Policy is planned for 2026. The company also reviewed more than 350 customer sustainability-related requests received in 2025, identifying increasing demand for information on forest sourcing as well as growing interest in climate and carbon issues.
Domtar stated it will continue quarterly updates on its sustainability strategy, with a more detailed 2025 sustainability report scheduled for release later this year.
