Tecnicarton, DS Smith, and Zicla collaborated to create fibre-based corrugated cardboard packaging for protecting smart bike-lane separators and their electronic counting components. The packaging features two elements: an outer box with a tab-locking system that avoids adhesives or staples for quick, secure assembly, and an internal insert shaped to fit the product's oval form while securing into corrugated recesses instead of using screws. The inserts protect the electronics from friction and damage during transport. DS Smith notes the single format handles two product models with different geometries and dimensions, cutting the number of packaging references needed for standards compliance. This design streamlines packaging, palletisation, storage, and transport while reducing space requirements. Overall, it lowers costs and boosts protection and logistics efficiency throughout the supply chain.
