DS Smith has introduced a high-capacity duo-trailer operated by XPO Logistics on its Spanish logistics routes, enabling up to twice the load of a standard trailer and supporting the company’s Now & Next sustainability strategy on transport decarbonisation. The 31.75-metre combination, with eight axles and up to 46 tonnes payload, is expected to reduce CO₂ emissions per journey by about 30% while avoiding around 120 conventional trips annually on selected corridors serving DS Smith packaging and paper operations. By consolidating loads into fewer trips, the solution improves freight efficiency, lowers fuel consumption and supports customers’ Scope 3 emission goals, aligning DS Smith’s logistics footprint with its science-based climate targets. The move also strengthens XPO’s position as a leading duo-trailer operator in Spain’s road freight sector.
