Duct Fire Contained at Procter & Gamble Paper Facility in Green Bay, Wisconsin

Firefighters responded to a duct system fire at the Procter & Gamble facility in Green Bay, Wisconsin, on the morning of July 25, with no injuries reported, according to local news reports and the Green Bay Fire Department.

Fire crews were dispatched at approximately 9:30 a.m. following reports of smoke coming from Paper Machine 15 inside Building 80. Initial reports indicated that the smoke was originating from a duct system connected to the paper machine. Facility staff evacuated the area as a precaution while emergency responders arrived on the scene.

Upon arrival, firefighters observed increasingly heavy smoke coming from rooftop ductwork, prompting both interior and rooftop firefighting operations. Crews discovered a significant fire within the duct system, leading the incident to be upgraded to a working fire response and bringing additional engines, trucks and personnel to the facility.

Firefighters accessed multiple levels of the paper machine and ductwork, opening hatches and applying water to extinguish the flames and contain the fire. Roof crews used ladders to reach vent stacks where active fire and smoke were visible, while interior teams searched for hot spots and worked to prevent the fire from spreading to adjacent equipment or structural components.

By approximately 11:00 a.m., officials declared that the fire had been contained and that no further damage was occurring. Most exterior units were released shortly afterwards, while interior crews remained on site to check for residual heat and any remaining embers. The majority of responders had cleared the scene by 11:06 a.m.

No injuries to employees or emergency personnel were reported. The cause of the fire remains under investigation, and authorities have not released an estimate of the financial damage.
