Earthnutz, a UK-based snack brand founded by Abby Singh, launched its high-protein peanut crisps packaged in Sonoco's recyclable paper-based can. The 95% paper-based can contains up to 64% post-consumer recycled content, minimizing plastic use and shipping waste while maintaining product strength and shelf protection. This switch replaces hard-to-recycle flexible plastics, supporting crispness through effective barrier properties and enabling recycling in UK household paper streams. Earthnutz selected the format after rejecting numerous plastic and mixed-material options to align with health and sustainability goals. Sonoco's UK sales manager highlighted support for brands prioritizing nutrition, transparency, and eco-friendly design in functional snacking. The can offers strong branding visibility and fits consumer preferences for sustainable packaging. Sonoco previously aided brands like DoggyLove and NaturDrops with similar solutions, advancing paper-based alternatives in snacks.
