ELANDRETAIL, led by CEO Chae Sung-won, is strengthening its ESG management by introducing eco-friendly packaging boxes.
On the 27th, ELANDRETAIL announced that it has introduced eco-friendly corrugated boxes produced using solar power facilities into its distribution process, in collaboration with Tailim Packaging, an affiliate of Global Sae-A Group.
The newly adopted packaging boxes are manufactured using more than 20% solar-based green energy during production and will be applied to about 1.3 million boxes annually. Through this, the company plans to reduce indirect carbon emissions generated in the distribution process and to reinforce an eco-friendly supply chain system.
The packaging material is produced based on a resource-circulating production system, which minimizes environmental impact from the raw material stage through production and distribution. Lightweight packaging design is also applied in parallel, reducing paper usage and thereby contributing to lower carbon emissions while improving logistics efficiency.
A representative of ELANDRETAIL said, "ESG for distribution companies must be practiced across the entire supply chain, beyond store operations," adding, "Switching to eco-friendly packaging is one of the most tangible changes customers can experience in their daily lives, and we will continue to put sustainable management into practice in the field."
