Elopak today announced the construction of a new state-of-the-art coating line at its production facility in Terneuzen. The new line will laminate cardboard used in the company’s Pure-Pak® packaging and represents a significant long-term investment in the site’s future.

The upgrade has been part of Elopak’s strategic roadmap since prior to the company’s 2021 IPO. The new coating line will provide important backup capacity while supporting projected growth in the coming years. By strengthening in-house lamination capabilities, Elopak aims to enhance supply security, operational efficiency, and customer responsiveness.

Preparations for construction have been underway for some time but were temporarily delayed due to regional grid congestion. Following the implementation of a structural solution expected by the end of 2025, the project is now set to move forward. The coating line is anticipated to be ready for production in the second half of 2027.

The investment forms part of a broader program to expand and modernize converting operations in Terneuzen. Recent developments at the site include the completion of a new high-bay warehouse and the installation of a Boardmaster converting line in 2025. Additionally, a new print line is scheduled to be installed at the beginning of next year. Together, these investments reinforce Terneuzen’s role as a key production hub within Elopak’s global manufacturing network.

“With the new coating line, we are not only strengthening our delivery reliability, but also creating the space to grow and take advantage of future opportunities. This is a fantastic step for both Elopak, our factory and the Terneuzen region,” said Jesse de Jonge, Coating Plant Manager in Terneuzen.

The new coating line underscores Elopak’s continued commitment to innovation, operational resilience, and sustainable packaging solutions, while supporting long-term economic development in the region.
