Ence Energía y Celulosa is accelerating the expansion of its renewable energy platform, aiming to triple EBITDA from this business unit by 2030, supported by diversified investments across biomethane, renewable heat, electricity, and fuels.

The company’s strategy is underpinned by its management of more than two million tonnes of biomass annually, positioning it as the leading biomass manager in the Iberian Peninsula. Ence is leveraging this scale to expand energy production from biomass into multiple end markets.

Biomethane has emerged as a key growth driver. Ence expects to exceed 1 TWh of annual biomethane production by 2030, contributing more than €60 million to EBITDA. The company has identified 42 projects, with 25 currently in the permitting phase, alongside an operational plant in La Galera. This pipeline supports its positioning in Spain’s renewable gas sector.

In renewable industrial heat, Ence operates through its subsidiary Magnon Green Energy, targeting 2 TWh of thermal production by 2030 and more than €40 million in EBITDA. The business currently includes one operational facility, one in commissioning, and three under construction, supported by long-term contracts.

The company is also active in renewable electricity generation. With 266 MW of installed capacity, it produces power from agricultural and forestry biomass, contributing to waste reduction, rural development, and a circular economy model. Biomass-based generation provides continuous and predictable supply, supporting grid stability.

In addition, Ence is developing renewable fuels, focusing on the use of biogenic CO₂ as a feedstock. The group generates more than four million tonnes of biogenic CO₂ annually—around 50% of Spain’s total—located near ports and industrial hubs, which it sees as a strategic advantage for future fuel production.

Through these initiatives, Ence is expanding its role across the renewable energy value chain while aiming to significantly increase profitability in the coming years.
