Hygiene and health company Essity has finalized its purchase of Edgewell Personal Care's feminine care operations, which include the Carefree, Stayfree, and o.b. brands in North America along with global feminine care rights for the Playtex brand. The deal carries a purchase price of USD 340 million, equivalent to roughly SEK 3 billion, on a cash- and debt-free basis. This transaction aligns with Essity's strategy to prioritize high-margin categories and expand market share in the United States, the largest hygiene market worldwide.
The asset purchase encompasses a diverse range of liners, pads, and tampons under established brands across the US, Canada, and the Caribbean, plus a manufacturing site in Dover, Delaware. The acquired operations will integrate into Essity's financial statements starting February 2, 2026.
"We are excited to complete this acquisition and accelerate growth for these prominent brands by applying our proven approach in Feminine Care," stated Ulrika Kolsrud, President and CEO of Essity. "This bolsters Essity's personal care segment in North America while advancing our goals in profitable categories and strategic regions."
Essity maintains a robust presence in feminine care, featuring regional brands like Libresse, Bodyform, Nana, Saba, Libra, Nosotras, Knix, and Modibodi. These offer an extensive lineup including pads, liners, tampons, intimate soaps, wipes, leakproof clothing, and menstrual cups.
