The European Investment Bank (EIB) is supporting a joint initiative by family-owned companies WEPA and Honext Material to develop and distribute circular fibreboards for the construction and interior design industries.

The project involves the construction of a production plant that will manufacture fibreboards using 100% recycled materials. The companies said the products are designed to combine high strength, low weight and strong acoustic properties.

The fibreboards are produced from processed recycled fibres and supplementary fibre materials. According to the companies, the products can be fully returned to the material cycle at the end of their service life, supporting circular economy objectives.

Funding from the European Investment Bank is intended to support the development and scaling of the production facility. The companies described the backing from the EIB as recognition of the project’s innovation and its strategic relevance for Europe’s sustainable materials sector.

The initiative targets growing demand for sustainable building and interior design materials as manufacturers and construction companies seek lower-impact alternatives based on recycled content.
