Fastmarkets Names Three Executives for 2026 Forest Products Awards

Fastmarkets announced its 2026 Forest Products industry awards, recognizing three executives for outstanding leadership amid challenging market conditions. Andy Silvernail, CEO of International Paper, received the International CEO of the Year award. Selected by investment analysts and portfolio managers, Silvernail earned recognition for accelerating International Paper's transformation after completing the DS Smith acquisition. The company advanced regulatory actions to optimize its European operations, including exclusive negotiations to sell five corrugated box plants while implementing strategic changes to enhance service and cost efficiency.​

Henrik Sjölund, CEO of Holmen Paper, was named European CEO of the Year. Despite weak European demand, Sjölund strengthened Holmen's position through disciplined execution and operational flexibility, particularly in handling volatile electricity prices. Holmen also advanced preparations for new regulations like the EU Deforestation Regulation.​

Anita Sjölander, CEO of Nordic Paper, received the Woman of the Industry award. Sjölander navigated tough markets while upholding pricing discipline and pursuing key investments. In 2025, Nordic Paper approved up to SEK 450 million for water management at its Bäckhammar mill, plus major capital projects like a new wood room and electrofilters to boost efficiency and sustainability.
