A fire broke out at a corrugated cardboard manufacturing plant in Wongok-myeon, Anseong City, Gyeonggi Province, on the morning of the 23rd, killing one male worker in his 60s.
According to fire authorities, one charred body was found inside the building where the fire broke out around 11:34 am that day.
Fire authorities discovered the body while conducting a search for one individual who could not be contacted, apart from the workers who had evacuated to a nearby dormitory.
Judging that there was a risk of casualties immediately after the fire, fire authorities issued a Level 1 response, deploying 37 units of equipment and 111 personnel to extinguish the blaze. The major flames were brought under control around 1:17 pm, approximately one hour and 40 minutes after the fire began.
Fire authorities are currently continuing defensive operations to prevent the fire from spreading to a nearby mountain behind the factory, while also extinguishing remaining embers. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
