Sofidel, one of the world’s leading manufacturers of paper for hygienic and household use, best known for its Regina brand and FSC®-certified (FSC®-C017535), recently welcomed a delegation from FSC® International and FSC® Italia to its headquarters in Porcari.

The delegation, led by FSC® International’s Director General, Subhra Bhattacharjee, and FSC® Italia’s President, Maria Rita Gallozzi, was welcomed by Sofidel CEO Luigi Lazzareschi, along with Massimiliano Vannucchi, Chief Operating Officer, and Riccardo Balducci, Group Sustainability Director.

The meeting, scheduled as part of FSC® Italia’s 25th anniversary, provided an opportunity to offer a closer look at Sofidel’s industrial and manufacturing operations and to discuss the importance of forest certification schemes for the tissue industry. In particular, the discussion focused on the strategic role of these certifications in helping distributors and end consumers recognize genuine efforts toward responsible sourcing.

“The visit by FSC® International and FSC® Italia to our global headquarters in Porcari was a valuable opportunity to share experiences and reflections on the role of forest certifications,” commented Luigi Lazzareschi, CEO of the Sofidel Group. “For an industry like ours, which invests in high environmental and social standards throughout the supply chain, being able to rely on robust, rigorous, and credible certification schemes is essential. It is important that the market be able to distinguish concrete and verifiable commitments, so that investments in sustainability are truly valued and competition takes place on a level playing field.”

“The products we use should not come at the expense of forests we need for generations,” said Subhra Bhattacharjee, Director General of FSC® International. “Sofidel’s commitment to FSC® certification connects everyday essentials with responsible forest management and provides a foundation for continued progress. Our dialogue is about building on that commitment, using the company’s scale and reach to strengthen responsible sourcing and help move the wider market towards practices that secure the future of forests.“

“Sofidel is a leader in the Italian and global manufacturing landscape,” concluded Maria Rita Gallozzi, President of FSC® Italy. “But its commitment extends beyond supply chains and production: as national and international members of our organization, Sofidel contributes every day to a vision that places forests at the center of the challenges and opportunities of the present and the future. We are pleased to have collaborated with Sofidel and look forward to continuing our work together on this journey.“

The visit came shortly after Sofidel received an award in Florence at “Radici Comuni”– the event celebrating FSC® Italia’s 25th anniversary – for its large-scale impact in promoting FSC®-certified products.
