Belgian food packaging specialist Galoppin Papier has invested in a new BOBST VISIONCUT 106 LER Autoplaten® die-cutter as the company continues to expand its folding carton production capabilities.
Founded in 1937 and now in its fourth generation of family ownership, Galoppin Papier produces packaging for the food industry from its production site in Boortmeerbeek, Belgium. The company employs 50 people and operates a production park of around 30 machines, including its own prepress department.
The investment follows growing demand in folding cartons and the need to replace an aging die-cutter from another manufacturer that had begun disrupting production. Galoppin Papier already operates a BOBST SP 1080 flatbed die-cutter that has remained in service for around 60 years, providing what the company described as a benchmark for reliability and durability.
According to the company, a visit to the BOBST Competence Centre played a key role in the purchasing decision. The VISIONCUT 106 LER was selected partly for its simplified job changeover process, which the company said would help reduce operator training requirements and improve efficiency.
The VISIONCUT 106 LER is designed for short- and long-run production and can operate at speeds of up to 8,000 sheets per hour. The machine includes a contactless sheet registration system, cut-to-print register controls, and automated setup functions intended to reduce changeover times and operator workload.
Wouter Galoppin of Galoppin Papier said the ease of changing jobs on the machine was particularly important, adding that setup times for some jobs could be reduced by half.
The machine was installed in early 2026 and has since delivered faster and more streamlined job changeovers across the production floor, according to the company. Galoppin Papier said the productivity gains at the die-cutting stage have also helped optimize downstream folding and gluing operations as folding carton volumes continue to increase.
Pierre Feltgen, Area Sales Manager Belgium at BOBST, said the investment would support Galoppin Papier’s continued growth and diversification in packaging production.
