Brazilian tissue machinery supplier HERGEN has completed the shipment of the final major component for a new tissue paper machine being installed at POL-MAK in Poland.
The component, an 18-foot Smart Yankee Dryer Cylinder, marks the completion of a key supply phase for the project and moves the installation into the commissioning and start-up stage, which will be coordinated by HERGEN.
POL-MAK, located in Batorowo near Poznań, produces low-basis-weight bathroom tissue, double- and triple-ply tissue products, napkins, and other sanitary paper grades for converting operations. The investment is intended to increase the company's production autonomy and strengthen its position in the tissue market.
The new PM#2 tissue machine, fully supplied by HERGEN, is designed to produce specialty tissue papers in the 15–25 g/m² range. The machine is engineered to operate at speeds of up to 2,000 metres per minute and has a sheet width of approximately 2,920 mm.
HERGEN’s supply scope includes stock preparation systems, approach flow equipment, a Crescent Former forming section, press section, drying system, rewinder, engineering services, and technical support.
A central feature of the project is the steel Smart Yankee Dryer, which incorporates a grooved internal surface designed to improve heat transfer efficiency. The machine has been developed under HERGEN’s ECOPerformance concept, which focuses on productivity, energy efficiency, and sustainability.
According to the company, the project incorporates a Double Dilution Concept in the approach flow system to improve stock consistency control, sheet quality, and cross-direction profile control while reducing energy consumption. The steel Yankee Dryer and optimized drying configuration are also designed to increase drying efficiency and reduce specific energy consumption and associated carbon dioxide emissions.
With shipment of the final major component complete, the project will now enter the field execution phase, with commissioning and start-up activities expected to begin shortly. HERGEN said the project reflects its ongoing partnership with POL-MAK and supports the Polish company’s growth strategy in the European tissue market.
