Shandong Huatai Paper Co., Ltd. announced that its wholly owned subsidiary, Rizhao Huatai Paper Co., Ltd., has begun commissioning a new high-yield unbleached wood fiber project with an annual production capacity of 150,000 tonnes, along with a supporting lignin project capable of producing 45,000 tonnes per year.
The project, located in Haiyou Chemical Industrial Park in Ju County, Rizhao City, Shandong Province, represents a total investment of approximately 450 million yuan. It forms part of Rizhao Huatai’s broader 300,000-tonne specialty pulp and paper integrated project.
According to the company, the facility includes a production line for high-yield natural wood fiber, a lignin recycling and utilization unit, as well as supporting utilities and environmental protection infrastructure. The investment is intended to support Shandong Huatai Paper’s strategy focused on pulp and paper integration, higher-end products, and green development.
Construction of the project began in February 2025. The company said civil works, equipment installation, and commissioning activities have been substantially completed, enabling the project to enter the operational preparation stage.
Rizhao Huatai conducted a joint trial run on May 28, 2026. The company reported that the facility achieved successful trial production on its first attempt and has now officially entered the commissioning and operation phase.
The newly commissioned project follows the startup of another component within the specialty pulp and paper integration plan. A 150,000-tonne-per-year high-permeability paper project commenced production in September 2025 and is currently operating normally, according to the company. Shandong Huatai Paper said the paper project has received positive feedback from the market.
