Huhtamaki has been recognized on TIME and Statista’s World’s Most Sustainable Companies list for the third time.

The annual ranking evaluates companies across a broad range of sustainability indicators, including environmental and social performance, external commitments and transparency. This year, 750 companies were selected based on more than 20 data points.

“We aim to be the first choice in sustainable packaging solutions. This recognition reflects our work, and our focus remains on the progress we make across our business every day. We continue to develop circular packaging solutions for our customers, reduce our greenhouse gas emissions, for example by increasing our share of renewable energy, and help our customers reduce their Scope 3 emissions,” says Riikka Tieaho, Executive Vice President, Sustainability, Corporate Affairs & Legal, and General Counsel at Huhtamaki.

In recent years, Huhtamaki has been making measurable progress across its sustainability priorities, including updating its climate targets. By 2030, we aim to reduce Scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gas emissions by more than 50% and Scope 3 emissions by 25% vs. 2022 levels. The Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) has approved the near-term science-based emissions reduction targets, with Scope 1 and 2 aligned with a 1.5°C pathway.

“In addition to our climate targets and developing circular packaging, we are focusing on responsible sourcing and reducing waste and water use across our operations. We are also committed to providing a safe, engaging workplace and to ensuring human rights are upheld and managed across our value chain,” Tieaho concludes.
