Ibema, Brazil's third-largest paperboard manufacturer, announced an agreement to acquire industrial assets from BO Paper in Brazil. The transaction is subject to certain conditions, including approval from the relevant competition authorities.
The agreement provides for the acquisition of assets from BO Paper's industrial unit located in Arapoti, in the state of Paraná. If the transaction is completed, Ibema will incorporate solutions based on high-performance thermomechanical fibers into its portfolio, expanding its product offering and complementing the company's current paperboard lines.
According to the company, the incorporation of these assets could contribute to diversifying the solutions offered to the market and strengthen Ibema's performance in different applications within the packaging industry.
“We believe this acquisition represents a significant strategic step for Ibema. We are strengthening our position as an important player in the national market, with greater competitiveness, an expanded portfolio, and resources to continue Transforming Lives, Caring for Nature, and Packaging the Future,” stated Nilton Saraiva, CEO of Ibema.
The company stated that the operation is aligned with its growth strategy and could enhance its competitiveness, as well as provide greater operational flexibility and the ability to serve different segments of the packaging industry.
The completion of the deal is still subject to approval by the Administrative Council for Economic Defense (CADE), as well as compliance with other regulatory steps and conditions. Until all requirements are met, Ibema and BO Paper will continue to operate independently, in accordance with applicable law.
