IBPO Reports Slight October Dip but Corrugated Cardboard Shipments Hit Second-Highest Historic Volume

EMPAPEL's Monthly Statistical Bulletin recorded a 0.1% drop in the Brazilian Corrugated Cardboard Index (IBPO) in October, compared to the same period of the previous year, totaling 174.3 points (2005=100).
According to the survey, the volume of shipments of corrugated cardboard boxes, accessories, and sheets totaled 391,433 tons in the month. This result represents the second-highest volume in the historical series, surpassed only by the record registered in October 2024, when 391,885 tons were shipped.
Considering working days, shipments reached 14,498 tons per day, which corresponds to a 3.8% reduction compared to the same period last year. The report highlighted that October 2025 had one more working day than the same month in 2024 (27 versus 26 working days).
In seasonally adjusted data, the report indicated a 1.5% increase in the IBPO, which reached 158.5 points, equivalent to 355,237 tons. Also in the seasonally adjusted series, the average shipment per working day was 13,157 tons, representing a 2.2% decrease compared to the previous month.
