Inland Empire Paper Honored with 2025 Environmental Excellence Award by NWPPA

Inland Empire Paper Company (IEP), a leading manufacturer of newsprint and specialty paper in Millwood, Washington, received the 2025 Environmental Excellence Award from the Northwest Pulp & Paper Association (NWPPA). This recognition celebrates IEP’s recent $3 million investment to upgrade its wastewater treatment system, advancing compliance with Washington state's stringent water quality standards. The upgrade includes nearly 4,000 fine bubble aerators aimed at achieving significant reductions in phosphorus, nitrogen, and carbonaceous biological oxygen demand (CBOD), critical for protecting the Spokane River’s ecosystem. NWPPA praised IEP’s ongoing commitment to environmental stewardship and regulatory compliance, emphasizing the importance of such initiatives in the pulp and paper industry.
