Irving Pulp and Paper to Begin 13-Day Maintenance Shutdown at Saint John Mill

J.D. Irving, Limited announced that its Irving Pulp and Paper mill in Saint John will begin a planned 13-day shutdown over the April 11–12 weekend to carry out maintenance and upgrade work at the facility.
The company said approximately 1,800 workers will be on site during the shutdown period to complete the required improvements. The work is aimed at enhancing both safety and operational reliability at the mill.
According to the company, the shutdown will also provide employment opportunities for contractors and tradespeople from the greater Saint John region, as the project brings in additional skilled labour for the duration of the maintenance period.
No further details were disclosed regarding the specific upgrades or the expected impact on production following the restart.
