Jeonju Paper announced on the 24th that it has been re-designated as a 'Green Enterprise' by the Jeonbuk Regional Environmental Office under the Ministry of Environment, maintaining the certification for the ninth consecutive time since becoming the first Green Enterprise in the paper industry in 1995. This is a result achievable only by a company that has accumulated environmental improvement achievements over a long period, going beyond mere certification.

Jeonju Paper is strengthening its 'execution-oriented eco-friendly management' by establishing an environmental management system throughout the entire production process. It operates a recycling-based production system that utilizes waste paper as a raw material and systematically manages environmental impact through a wastewater treatment facility with a capacity of 90,000 tons per day and resource recycling facilities.

By linking resource recycling facilities with biogas power generation systems to establish a structure that recycles process by-products into energy, we are strengthening a circular production system that achieves both waste treatment and energy production simultaneously.

Currently, Jeonju One Power, an affiliate of Jeonju Paper, operates a total of two biomass power generation facilities and supplies the energy required for paper production through a generating capacity of approximately 48 MW. Through this, Jeonju Paper is increasing its energy self-sufficiency while stably securing over 120 tons of steam per hour to maximize the efficiency of its production processes.

In addition, continuous investment is being made in improving the air environment, such as by introducing air pollution control equipment (SCR, dust collection facilities, automatic measurement systems, etc.) to manage nitrogen oxide and dust emissions.

Based on these facility investments and process improvements, Jeonju Paper is simultaneously pursuing the reduction of pollutant emissions, the expansion of resource recycling, and the optimization of energy use, while implementing field-oriented eco-friendly management by strengthening environmental education for all employees.

Since being designated as a Green Enterprise, the company has continued to make sustained environmental investments and process improvements, and through this re-designation, it will maintain its Green Enterprise status until 2029. There are 10 designated Green Enterprise workplaces in Jeonbuk, including Jeonju Paper, and approximately 90 workplaces nationwide.

In addition to this, Jeonju Paper has consistently carried out social contribution activities to foster mutual growth with the local community. By operating the nation's only Hanji Museum, it has fulfilled the functions of preserving and educating local traditional culture, while also strengthening its corporate social responsibility through disaster response drills, safety education, and community-linked programs.
