Jiangsu Bohui Paper Co., Ltd. announced plans to undertake a technical upgrade and capacity expansion project that will increase its annual chemimechanical pulp production capacity to 1.2 million tons.

The project will be carried out within the company’s existing production site and involves upgrading the current chemimechanical pulp workshop as well as adding a new production line. Upon completion, Bohui Paper’s chemimechanical pulp capacity will double from 600,000 tons per year to 1.2 million tons annually.

According to the company, the expansion is intended to support demand from existing operations and major provincial projects, including its Phase III project for 800,000 tons per year of high-grade specialty paperboard, which has been included in the 2025 Jiangsu Province Major Project List.

The company said the upgraded pulp capacity will complement its total paper production capacity of 2.8 million tons. The chemimechanical pulp produced under the project will be used internally and will not be sold externally.

Bohui Paper stated that the project aligns with its broader strategy of industrial upgrading and optimization under Jiangsu’s coastal development initiative. The company also highlighted its focus on green development and sustainable manufacturing practices.

The announcement noted that the project has already completed filing procedures under Dazhengfu Technological Upgrading Filing No. [2025] 187. The pulp expansion project is scheduled to be completed alongside the company’s projects for 2 million tons per year of high-grade packaging paperboard and 800,000 tons per year of high-grade specialty paperboard capacity expansion.
